The McGinty's...John Jr is now 38 years old. He grew up in Miami, Fl. and went into the US Marine Corps right out of high school in 1991. He was in for 8 years and spent most of that time at Cherry Point, NC.  While in the USMC his main experience was single channel and multichannel radio communications. Since 1999  he has worked on a Government contract for Northrop Grumman on a training range that the military fly's on. He is currently the supervisor of the communications shop which keeps all the VHF/ UHF radios, Microwave Data link radios, Cisco routers and switches and other communications devices up and working. He also has the pleasure of climbing the 150'-600' communication towers to install antennas and troubleshoot. "Lucky Him", right, lol

John has been racing 7 years on and off starting out with a Traxxas T-Maxx monster truck that he turned into a Supermaxx. Unfortunately it did not hold up to the abuse of racing. He then moved up and raced a Traxxas Revo monster truck for a short period in 2006 then retired  the Traxxas and got out of racing completly for a couple years.  Then in late 2008, he purchased a Mugen MBX5R buggy and a MBX5T truggy and began to spend more time racing on and off around the local tracks. In 2009 he really started to dedicate his time more into racing scene than he had ever before traveling and racing as much as he could and whereever he could

In 2009 he wanted to get his son John McGinty III into racing and purchased a MBX6 buggy to race as well. John III  has been racing for 3 years now. John was faster than his son for the first couple years...However in 2011 John III moved up to the Pro class and since has left his dad in the dust. The young kids really seem to pick this stuff up fast as we tend to get older.  Both traveled together and raced as a father son team as much as possible. John III received a MBX6T truggy  for his birthday this year and now is racing both Buggy and Truggy. John's wife, Lisa also goes to as many races as she can with them. She has become a great pit girl to have on our side, John stated with a BIG grin...She helps us do all sorts of things throughout the day to make it easier on me including pitting for us or turn marshalling. The two of them are normally racing 4 classes so there's not much time for them to kick back and relax. Without his wife's help at some of the races it would be impossible for them to race.

In 2011 John  bought and started racing a Mugen MBX6-ECO and a AE FTSC10 SCT so that he could run electric and John III could run nitro. This allowed them to focus more their racing rather than just running the same class together. Just this past month John has built a Mugen MBX6T-ECO truggy that he is really looking forward to racing.

As you can see by the photos, John and his son are also big into offshore fishing. They reside right on the coast of North Carolina where some of the best fishing in the world takes place...WOW, I don't think a Zebco brought that tuna in...lol.  I might have to hit ole John up for a fishing trip.  John is the proud owner of a 26' Hydra Sports center console boat, a must for offshore fishing.  John has taught his son how to drive the boat as well as rig the baits and leader the fish. "Fishing is something I have done just about all my life and its something else now that we can do together that we enjoy" John stated....
John III is now 15 years old.  He attends West Carteret High School in Morehead City, NC and is a Sophomore. John III also plays soccer on the varsity team at school and from what I'm told is pretty dang good at that too. During the off season he also plays soccer on a challenge traveling team with some of his friends from school.

I can tell you this...This "Family Affair" is FIRST CLASS.  John, also know as "Johnboy" has driven down for three of our races at The RC Pit from NC...around 4 hours drivin time.  The two of them are dedicated to the sport.  This past weekend, both had some impressive finishes and as "Racers Luck" would have it, John III flamed out after his first lap in Pro Truggy after TQ-ing the A-main. But what was most impressive was that he managed to finish 2nd behind Josh Hollifield...WOW, what a main event.
John III has a very proud father...and knows his dad really enjoys the time they get to spend together.

Keep and eye on these two.....The McGinty's....The One's to Watch...
